In Loving Memory

I have had a CRAZY couple of weeks, so this is going to be a long post. Before I tell you all about it, I would like everyone to observe a moment of silence for my beloved Jeep, who I totalled last week making a left hand turn in Pacific Beach traffic. She is my favorite car ever and she will be sorely missed.

I am fine and the baby is fine but it really was a pretty bad accident. I was trying to turn left to pick up pizza but traffic was really backed up. They broke to let me through and a woman waved me on but it was a big mistake for me to go. A guy coming up the right hand turn lane at about 45 nailed me and that was the end of the best car in the world. I had Fritz (baby dog) with me and it scared him so bad he threw up. I felt really bad. I was letting him hang his head out the front passenger window at the time and I could've killed him. I could've killed me or really hurt the baby. I was really lucky though; no one was seriously injured. I sprained my ankle but that's it. It actually turned out pretty cool because I had to go to the hospital to have the baby checked out. They kept me over night for observation and Gabe and I got to spend all night on labor and delivery, listening to her heart beat and her moving around. We met all the doctors and nurses and saw what the rooms were like. It was like a test run for the real thing and since every one's okay, I kind of liked it. I went out last week and got a new car. I traded down for a Chrysler Pacifica which I refer to as the mommy wagon but Gabe says it rocks. Truth be told, it's actually nicer than the Jeep. It has third row seating that folds up and a DVD player and all that fun stuff but it just doesn't have the cool factor that the Jeep did. It's really pretty, though. Here it is:

I spent all weekend after the accident in bed because I was really sore but, come Monday the 3rd, I had to dust off my dancin' shoes. It was our one year anniversary and Gabe had a big night planned for us. We had so much fun! We went to Indigo Grill for dinner, which is where we ate on our first date. Actually it's where he ate, I was too nervous to eat. It was nice to sit there and relax and actually taste the food. After dinner he took me to the sold out
concert. They are a favorite of both of ours and they were so good! They played their regular set on the main stage but half way through the concert, a second stage lowered out of the ceiling and they ran out the catwalk and did a 45 minute acoustic set on that stage. Then they wen back to the main stage and played for another hour. They played for almost 3 hours and they were amazing! It was so fun!

After the concert, Gabe said we had one more thing to do and though I acted excited, I was so tired that I secretly prayed it was a hotel room. My prayers were answered when we pulled up to the Heritage Park Inn; the bed and breakfast where we stayed on our wedding night. We snuggled in for the night, had breakfast with the other guests in the morning and went home. I had such a fun date with him. He really went all out and I had no idea ahead of time what he had planned. He's so sweet. Here are some pictures of the inn:

Finally, I saw this sign for the writing lab on campus and maybe it's just the Lit person in me but I thought it was HI-larious.
